The studio is not good for recording audio. We are in an industrial area with trucks going back and forth all day in front of the studio. The walls inside are very thin too so we often hear our carpenter neighbours. The studio is suitable for MOS film and video recording.

We take payment via e-transfer.

Yes, you will need to have your own commercial liability insurance to book us.

We don’t include lighting equipment in the rental. If needed you can rent from Flashpoint Rentals (they deliver too!) or Beau Photo.

Does the studio have natural light?

Sort of. It is very limited with 2 skylights and one window.

Does the studio have parking?

No, the studio does not have parking however there is plenty of free street parking.

Yes, the studio has a truck height loading bay that is share with the building we are in.

Yes, the studio has bluetooth speakers and wifi.

No, animals are not allowed in the studio at any time due to severe allergies.

No, smoking/vaping is not allowed in the studio. Smoke/fog machines and candles are not allowed.

Rentals do not have exclusive use of the studio. Two artists have dedicated workspaces within the studio. If a closed set is needed for your session please ask us if an exception can be made.

No, events/parties are not allowed in the studio.

About Us

Roger Mahler (he/him) & Holly Truchan (she/her)

The Mayer Studio is run by the 20-year partnership (in business and in life) of Roger Mahler and Holly Truchan. Roger, a Langara College Professional Photo-Imaging program graduate (2001), brings his keen eye for detail and exceptional lighting skills to create innovative imagery across various genres, including corporate, advertising, and product photography. Holly, a self-taught event photographer who found her passion later in life, excels at visual storytelling and is committed to capturing the unique moments that define an event.
